Notes
Two variations exist for the original 1967 release. The first edition has a thicker jacket and heavy, inflexible vinyl, with no address appearing on the front cover. What is assumed to be an immediate repressing has a standard weight jacket with an address printed at lower center front cover and a "stereo" designation at upper right front cover. The vinyl for this permutation is standard weight and slightly more flexible. The back covers and labels are identical on each version. There is no difference in the runout information between the two versions, ing that they were both struck from the same metal parts.

Edited 5 years agoWe are very lucky to have captured this stuff on record. This album is a phenomenon. The music it contains is ultimately liberated. It's freewheeling and ecstatic; careening towards oblivion at every turn. It's the type of phenomenon that rarely gets witnessed by more than a few people at a time; like a lightning strike or a lynx sighting. It's raw, unadulterated, and totally natural. Roiling with power, yet completely at peace with its environment. Rather than looking up at the cosmos and taking us to the intergalactic spaceways we've come to expect from Sun Ra's Arkestra, the players here were looking inward, and drawing inspiration through their roots. It's earth music. And that's all you need.
